Does AI Content Rank Well in Search? To rank #1, human authorship is non-negotiable. While AI can be an ideation and drafting tool, the data shows a performance gap at the top of search results: Human-Written is at 80% probability of ranking #1. AI-Generated – is at 9% probability of ranking #1. The Verdict – AI is an efficient engine, but it isn’t a hands-free shortcut. If you want your firm to dominate high-value keywords, human-written content is required to bridge the gap and secure the top spot.

Google announced a new spam policy targeting sites that interfere with browser back button navigation. Enforcement starts June 15, 2026. Sites have two months to remove offending code. If those actions are not removed, it will result in reduced visibility in Google Search results.

Google’s new agentic features — including AI Mode, calling local businesses on a user’s behalf — confirm that Search is shifting from a list of links toward an execution layer that completes tasks for users. The website’s job is changing from “destination” to “data source.” For law firms, that means accurate, machine-readable information about practice areas, intake availability, jurisdictions, and consultation policies — delivered through clean semantic HTML and Schema.org markup — is now table stakes. If an AI agent can’t parse it, it can’t surface you when a user asks it to find them a lawyer.

Wikipedia Bans Use Of AI-Generated Content. Whether you’ve used it to quickly research or if you’ve utilized it to manage a listing of your law firm’s information, Wikipedia is a household name. One that no longer allows AI-generated content. Their new policy reinforces that Wikipedia content must be verifiable and written by humans who can be held accountable for neutral point-of-view standards.

🌐Digital Advertising

Apple launched Apple Business on April 14, allowing businesses in the U.S. and Canada to place local ads within Apple Maps starting this summer. Ads will appear based on relevance in search results and a Suggested Places section across Apple devices, with no minimum spend or long-term commitments required. Apple Maps advertising targets high-intent users on premium devices while maintaining strict privacy standards by keeping personal data on users’ devices. Law firms should claim their Apple Business listing, optimize their place card, and prepare verification documents to be ready for launch. This new advertising channel offers law firms an opportunity to reach potential clients early, before competition increases. Consultwebs is happy to help with any questions you may have about this change.

Meta Removed Ads Targeting Social Media Harm. There was an influx of legal ads targeting social media harm being removed from Meta in April. It affected large, national law firms, as well as local firms. Axios said that in order to negate this and stop lawyers from using its platform to seek damages against the business, Meta used a clause in its terms and conditions relating to “adverse legal or regulatory impacts to Meta” to remove the ads.

For the First Time, Meta Is On Track to Overtake Google in Global Ad Revenue. Meta is forecast to capture 26.8% of global ad spend. Google is projected to take 26.4%. Platform dynamics can change quickly. While Meta may be overtaking the ad share, it’s still very important for competitive niches like the legal industry to remain agile, and maintain a steady presence in both, funneling higher budgets into the platform that works best for your law firm.

Meta Sued by Consumer Federation of America. A new lawsuit alleges that the company profited from scam advertising and intentionally allowed fake promotions to continue despite public promises to crack down. Reports, which were based on internal documents from the company, indicated that at least at one stage, Meta was generating around $16 billion per year, or 10% of its annual revenue, from scam advertising and/or promotions for banned goods. Given the prevalence of online scam activity, this could be an interesting trial to monitor. In particular, this will be notable in regard to the interpretation of laws relating to how social media platforms police scam ads, as well as the expectations within the law around these processes.

Meta Ends End-to-end Encryption on Instagram. Beginning May 8th, Instagram is ending end-to-end encryption on their messages. Originally, it was rolled out in August 2022 as a part of a security push. Meta hasn’t yet responded on the why behind this change. It’s possible this change could affect data gathering for attorneys in criminal cases.

LinkedIn Article Posts Are a Leading Source for AI Search Citations. The platform has come out with a guide to help users who want to capitalize on that visibility. They share 4 key tips: deliver valuable insights and data, build an ongoing newsletter with LinkedIn, make content readable and easy to consume, and highlight executive thought leadership.

Instagram Allows Users to Schedule Trial Reels. Trial reels have been one of the fastest ways to grow on Instagram for some time, and now Meta is giving users more control by allowing them to be scheduled. Attorneys can draft video content in batches and schedule them in advance.
