Happy August!
Between constant search engine algorithm shifts, AI-powered discovery tools, and changing client intake behaviors, keeping your online presence optimized can feel like a moving target. In this blog, we cut through the noise to deliver the essential digital marketing updates you need to protect your firm’s market share, maximize advertising ROI, and turn industry changes into a distinct competitive advantage.
Here are the updates for this month 👇
🤖AI
Google faces class action over books used to train AI. Publishers allege works supplied to Google Books, Play Books and Scholar were used to train Gemini without permission. Courts are yet to rule on the claims.
ChatGPT is rolling out a new option to upload audience lists in the OpenAI ad platform. Having the audience lists directly on the platform will improve ad targeting for potential clients and ultimately increase reach.
🌐Digital Advertising
Google is beginning to move Local Services Ads (LSAs) into the Google Ads platform as a new Performance Max pay-per-lead campaign type. This change will allow advertisers to manage LSAs alongside their other Google Ads campaigns in one single platform, while maintaining the pay-per-lead model and Google Guaranteed/Google Screened features. The rollout will happen gradually, and no action is required at this time. We’ll continue monitoring the transition and make any necessary updates to ensure your campaigns continue performing at their best.
Google is testing AI summaries with search ads. These summaries are generated by Google. They say these are meant to explain the ads and give potential customers more information to make an informed decision. Advertisers will not be able to control what goes in these summaries, but Google added a disclaimer that they are AI-generated and may be incorrect. They have stated that this is a small test to see how AI can be more fully integrated into search. We will be on the lookout for more information.
📱Social Media
Google added a new feature that allows advertisers to track what keywords potential clients use in their searches that lead them to advertisers’ social media platforms. Being able to track those keywords means clearer attribution for social media networks.
LinkedIn shares a checklist with tips on how to post effectively and befriend their algorithm. This checklist covers how often you should post, how long your posts should be, and what content you should be posting. Following the guidance will help increase your likelihood of being cited in AI Search.
