This year, those insights turned into a massive 20+ page playbook covering everything from AI search disruption to the next evolution of web design and social media. Now that we’re halfway through the year, it’s time to revisit those predictions and see exactly what we got right.Let’s dive in! SEO & AI Search PredictionsSEO is no stranger to rapid changes, especially with AI-driven shifts in the past couple of years. These are the trends we correctly forecasted. The Prediction: “We have to answer people’s searches (now a.k.a, prompts) directly, without having too much fluff. Now it’s not about word count (it hasn’t been for a long time), it’s about answering the search intent with the most relevant information and in the most unique way, so that you can differentiate from others.”The Update:This continued to grow and become important, giving a unique perspective and data, which is how you get more visibility. The Prediction: “Pages with clear, comprehensive, and first-hand experience-based content will perform better. This is especially true for “Your Money or Your Life” (YMYL) topics like legal advice, where Google holds sites to the highest standard. Law firms need to prove their real-world expertise and authority. Building a standing E-E-A-T (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trust) is inevitable for law firms.” The Update:The December 2025 and March 2026 core updates hammered this home; sites that we saw doing this well grew during those updates while sites that lagged or lacked them saw declines. The Prediction: “But this time, not only for Google, but also for ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, and so on. Google’s SERP is becoming more visual and interactive, with carousels, grids, and filters taking a larger portion of the screen (As of January 2025, some AIOs have increased to 800px and are predicted to potentially reach 1,000px), particularly on mobile devices. This “visual-first” approach means that content isn’t just about text anymore; it’s about rich media and structured data. It’s especially important for the law firms that are smaller, and those that compete in a large competition.”The Update:While our prediction about Schema Markup being specifically utilized by AI tools didn’t quite hit the mark, it does still play an important role. One of the biggest influences on what shows in an AI result is whether the LLM does an external search or just uses its training data. If it uses Google or Bing and searches to look at answers and then factors the results of that search into its own answer, then your ranking and visibility in traditional SEO has a major impact. The features you show up for in those searches are impacted by Schema Markup and other traditional SEO tactics. The Prediction:“Focusing only on Google Search is not enough anymore. It’s not only about the SEO you know of, as per Rand Fishkin. People are searching everywhere. Not being on that platform, you are missing the opportunity of getting cited there and missing the opportunity to beat your competitors. A lot of large platforms have their own AI search results, and if they don’t, they are working hard on getting there. Be prepared. We will continue to see more AI-powered features roll out from Google. Change will be constant, and testing will be a key focus for 2026.”The Update:This prediction has been spot on and continues to remain relevant. We watched as Reddit was the top cited source in Google AI Overviews, which has changed a bit, and now YouTube has overtaken that, with LinkedIn climbing the ranks as well. We have also seen legal directory sites make a huge comeback as AI models are using them as trusted sources on a regular basis. AI is not looking in one place; it’s looking all over. The Prediction:“AI cannot be tracked like traditional keywords can. The extent of reliable tracking comes from analytics and monitoring the traffic and conversion rates coming from AI platforms. You cannot reliably track visibility, rankings, or anything else tied to AI results in the various platforms or in Google’s AI Overviews. These are already personalized, and this will continue as they provide memory, so the tools remember your likes and dislikes and can further tailor the response. This leads to everything being new and unique.”The Update:This has continued to be a pain point for marketing professionals; we still do not have reliable tracking, and there are various ways of getting results. It can be broken down into two buckets. LLM-only searches, where it looks only at the data in the model. Then LLM + Search, where it does a live search to look for related results and pull them in to inform its decision. The search piece is where SEO comes in. If you have good visibility, then you will show up more often. As for tracking, it’s still not great. Recent studies show that you can run a search 100 times, and every time the answer will vary. Also, personalization has become stronger, with more memory, it can remember searches you did previously and other conversations you had, and use that information to help personalize your results. Web Design PredictionsThe Prediction:“AI has taken some of the grunt work out of our daily digital workloads and routines. This will apply to web design in the form of AI chatbots that can provide customer service 24/7, 365 days a year. Website search will also be improved with on-site AI tools, providing more accurate and speedy results when searching very large, technical, and content-heavy websites.”The Update:New AI-fueled chat products launch every day. AI assistance has been increasingly prominent in 2026. Video Marketing PredictionsCall us Nostradamus, because ALL of our video marketing predictions came true this year. We will be highlighting our favorites, but be sure to check the rest of them out in the full book here. The Prediction:“Large-language-models (LLMs) like Gemini and ChatGPT will lean more on answers that feature video content when applicable, showcasing high-quality content that answers questions in a concise manner. SEO for videos on websites and social media platforms will need to be even more critical for LLMs to recommend them.”The Update:This couldn’t be truer today. YouTube continues to vie for the number one platform being cited for LLMs like ChatGPT and AI Overviews. Videos are increasingly embedded in AI Overviews as sources of information. The Prediction:“Short-form video content will continue to dominate. We expect to see more short-form content tailored to specific platforms like slightly longer videos for TikTok and shorter ones for Reels. Instead of only repurposing long-form video, more brands will prioritize separate original short-form content for episodic series, interactive shorts, and more. ”The Update:Short-form videos remain popular for social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram, with platforms like LinkedIn also continuing to prioritize them. Many social media platforms are also indexed by Google, which helps demonstrate a law firm’s EEAT. Social media plays an integral role in establishing social proof and authority. The Prediction:“Strong hooks and text overlays will be critical. Silent video consumption is widespread (scrolling without sound), and many people who do this will flip right past a video without obvious and attractive captioning.”The Update:Videos with native or high-quality stylized captions consistently outperform identical videos without them in average watch time. Furthermore, platforms process and index the actual words in your captions, making them a crucial driver for Search Engine Optimization (SEO).Strong hooks and text overlays will be critical. Silent video consumption is widespread (scrolling without sound), and many people who do this will flip right past a video without obvious and attractive captioning. The Prediction:“AI video floods the market and will continue to do so. Audiences will be seeking proof of human involvement. AI-usage transparency in video content will be under a microscope, with the sentiment leaning toward audiences craving more unpolished human-created videos. Platforms will enforce AI-generated labels.”The Update:Due to an influx of AI-generated content, major social media platforms, along with websites like Wikipedia, have cracked down on AI content. These new policies continue to evolve with new guidelines and labels rolling out frequently. PPC PredictionsOur PPC team correctly predicted many items as well. Google is notoriously cryptic, so it is quite the feat to predict this many items correctly. The Prediction:“AI is Mandatory – AI drives automation, optimization, and predictive campaign performance.”The Update:Throughout 2026, Google continued expanding AI-powered advertising features, making AI a core part of campaign management. Law firms increasingly relied on AI-driven bidding, audience targeting, and campaign optimization to remain competitive. The Prediction:“Human + AI Balance – Scale with AI while keeping strategy, compliance, and oversight intact.”The Update:This prediction proved especially accurate for law firms. While AI-generated optimizations helped increase lead volume, many legal advertisers reported lower lead quality and irrelevant case inquiries. Human oversight remained essential to maintain compliance, control search intent, and improve lead qualification. The Prediction:“Tracking Offline Conversions”The Update:Offline conversion tracking became increasingly important for law firms because signed cases, qualified consultations, and retained clients are stronger indicators of success than online leads alone. Google’s automation systems continue to prioritize high-quality conversion data. The Prediction:“Strengthen First-Party Data Strategy”The Update: As privacy regulations increased and third-party tracking became less reliable, law firms were encouraged to invest in first-party data strategies, Customer Match, and Enhanced Conversions to improve campaign performance and measurement. The Prediction:“Stay Flexible with Campaign Structures.”The Update:As Google continued expanding Demand Gen, AI Max, and AI-powered placements, law firms increasingly tested new campaign formats while maintaining Search as the primary lead-generation channel. Successful firms adapted to new formats without abandoning proven search strategies. Social Media PredictionsSocial media changes weekly, daily, sometimes even by the hour. Almost every single prediction in our original book was predicted correctly for Social Media. We’ve highlighted the most noteworthy ones below. The Prediction:“TikTok becomes the new Google (especially for Gen-Z) not only in search, but in Maps. More and more people are turning to TikTok, especially for local searches like businesses (especially law firms!)”The Update:When users search on TikTok they can filter by nearby businesses and videos. The app also introduced local feeds earlier in the year. The Prediction:“Nostalgia makes a big comeback.”The Update:Nostalgia is making a huge comeback! It’s primarily driven by Millennials and Gen-Z. More users are using old filters, trends in audio and dance, fashion, unpolished styles, etc. The Prediction:“Governments will regulate platforms even more. We’ve seen it hitting in 2025, and it’s only going to grow. Expect stricter privacy data laws, platform accountability, and stricter local laws. The Update:We’ve been sounding bells on this one for years, but with social media lawsuits and AI developing even quicker, this is bound to continue. Examples of public calls for action here and here. The Prediction:“AI-generated tools will become very popular, even more than they currently are (which is super popular). This will force AI users to note when their content is AI-generated.”The Update:While some gaps still remain, social media platforms have made a significant effort in labeling AI disclosures.Stay Ahead of the CurveIf the first half of the year taught us anything, it’s that “future” trends become reality quicker than we realize.
