2016 Annual Consultwebs Conference

A Refreshing Reminder of Why We Do What We Do

group-photoAt any company, it’s easy to get caught up in the grind of everyday tasks and work routines. So at Consultwebs, we take time out each year to remind ourselves of who our clients really are and why we do what we do.

This fall, more than 40 members of the Consultwebs legal marketing team gathered at the Embassy Suites Raleigh – Crabtree for a company-wide conference that focused on the big picture: Connecting people who desperately need legal help with the lawyers who can help them. Our skilled team of search marketing consultants, web designers and developers, social media experts, content writers, and creative project specialists spent three days collaborating on best practices and discussing the future of the online legal marketing industry.

cw for goodIn line with the company’s dual focus on work ethic and personal ethics, the conference also served as a launching pad for the Consultwebs for Good initiative. This new program encourages team members to use their talents to give back to their communities and help those in need. The company will support employees’ volunteer efforts and will feature stories of giving back on the Consultwebs website and through social media.  

Celebrating Our Growing Team

growThis year’s conference was the eighth such gathering in the online legal marketing company’s 17-year history, and it highlighted how much Consultwebs has grown to continually meet our clients’ needs. Team members from across the nation and around the world got a chance to catch up with old friends and meet new colleagues through spirited social activities and professional development sessions.

for-cw-page-1“It amazes me every time we get together to see how much the Consultwebs team has expanded,” said CEO Dale Tincher, who founded Consultwebs in 1999. “We are proud to keep adding talent to our team to ensure our clients are always positioned to succeed in an increasingly sophisticated online marketplace.”

Expanding Our Skill Sets and Knowledge Base

As in years past, the conference featured a mix of team-building activities and informative presentations. Some of the highlights this year included:

  • More than a dozen roundtable sessions where participants discussed various aspects of the future of SEO for law firms  
  • A Q&A discussion on client needs featuring an attorney from a small firm and a chief marketing officer from a large firm  
  • Development and presentation of “Corner of the Web” projects, which showcased individual websites that team members created over the course of the conference to highlight personal interests
  • A guest webinar featuring leadership expert Chris LoCurto
  • Informative updates about what’s happening across the company’s departments
  • A volunteer opportunity to make welcome home baskets for Passage Home, a Raleigh charity that connects families and neighborhoods to resources and opportunities
  • A special showing and in-depth discussion of the tort reform documentary “Hot Coffee”
  • A social media competition that kept everyone on their toes looking for tokens to Tweet
  • A heartfelt and stirring Consultwebs rendition of Adele’s “Hello,” followed by a riling encore performance of a Taylor Swift parody song from last year’s conference
  • An intense game of laser tag that showed how our team would survive in an extremely hostile work environment (For the record, we would fare pretty well, although we prefer the friendliness of our current work environment.)

laser tagIn the Consultwebs tradition, the laser tag competition served as a face-off between the Blue Team (led by Tincher) and the Black Team (led by President Magnus Simonarson). 

img_1265Although there was absolutely no way anyone could have slept through this year’s conference, the Consultwebs team was challenged in the end to a final test of how much everyone absorbed over the three days. Luckily, everyone passed the Law Web Aptitude Test (LWAT) with flying colors, and those at the top of the class took home some coveted tech prizes.

Saying Goodbye Until Next Year

dinnerAfter nearly a week of soaking up the camaraderie and company culture, team members left feeling refreshed and ready to focus once again on the Consultwebs mission.

“Watching our team say goodbye is hard, but it also makes me happy to see everyone hugging and expressing appreciation for each other like the family that we are,” Tincher said. “I feel honored to be a part of this group of brilliant, warm, committed, and fun individuals. And I can’t wait until next year’s conference!”
