Dunn, North Carolina (population 9,196 in 2000), is 6.2 square miles of rural,  small-town atmosphere living within one hour of NC's bustling Research Triangle.  Near the intersection of I-40 and I-95,  Dunn sits in the heart of North Carolina's recreation and tourism heaven - two hours from the Atlantic ocean beaches and four hours from the oldest mountains in the world. What is North Carolina without golf?  Dunn boasts four country club courses, including Keith Hills, a championship facility voted one of the "Top 100 Values" by Golf Digest.

Dunn, the largest community in Harnett County, has excellent standard of living.  Business opportunities are ensured as a member of the Research Triangle Regional Partnership, and the state and local

  incentives offered to industries that invest in and create jobs for the local economy. The Dunn area Chamber of Commerce is an excellent resource for relocation information.

Harnett County's Campbell University, offers 36 undergraduate degrees as well as graduate programs in Business, Law, Pharmacy, Government, Education and Divinity. Central Carolina Community College works closely with local industries and businesses, tailoring courses and programs to maintain an up-to-date work force in the employment pool.  Two Bible colleges, Heritage Bible College and Foundations Bible College are located in Dunn and twelve other institutes of higher learning are within an hour's drive of Harnett county, including Duke University, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and North Carolina State.  Dunn is serious about education.  The local public schools, kindergarten through 12, have all been updated or newly built since 1993.

Dunn's Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital employs more than 60 physicians, and also includes a cancer treatment center. A kidney center and 3 additional medical clinics also serve the area.  Good Hope Hospital is in nearby Erwin, NC, just 4.3 miles away. 

Dunn was named for Bennett R. Dunn, a civil engineer instrumental in the construction of the railroad between Wilson and Fayetteville. 

Do not miss the The General William C. Lee House in Dunn.  The internationally-known aviator, William C. Lee (1895-1948), was born in Dunn and attended both Wake Forest and North Carolina State colleges.  In June, 1948, the funeral in Dunn for this "father of America's airborne troops" and founder of  the U.S. Airborne Command was attended by thousands, including state and U.S. Army dignitaries.

Other must-sees are The Howard House, Old Bluff Church(1758), and the Harnett County Indian Museum.

The three city parks in Dunn are kept busy with the annual week-long General William C. Lee Celebration, the North Carolina Cotton Festival, auto shows, bar-b-ques, and family reunions.  The Cape Fear River is the prime water source for the area as well as providing  recreational opportunities.

Dunn's nearest cities are Benson, NC Buies Creek, NC, Coats, NC, Erwin, NC, Falcon, NC, Plain View, NC, Spiveys Corner, NC, and Wade, NC.
