Matthew A. Cartwright of Munley, Munley & Cartwright elected to American Association for Justice Governing Board
Scranton, PA, August 5, 2009 -- Two attorneys with Munley, Munley & Cartwright, P.C., a highly respected Pennsylvania personal injury law firm, have been chosen for leadership posts with the American Association for Justice.
Attorney Matthew A. Cartwright of Munley, Munley & Cartwright, P.C., was elected to the board of governors of the American Association for Justice during the group's recent convention.
The board of governors is the governing body of the American Association for Justice, which promotes a fair and effective justice system and supports the work of attorneys in their efforts to ensure that any person who is injured by misconduct or the negligence of others can obtain justice in a courtroom.
The Association's board of governors is charged with establishing and approving policies including the adoption of a three-year budget. Each affiliated state trial lawyer organization is represented on the board by two or more governors. Governors also are chosen by various caucuses, organizations and groups within the Association.
Cartwright was elected to the board of governors by the Association's Section Leadership Council, of which he served as chairman in 2008-2009. He also is a past chair of the Business Torts Practice Section.
"I'm flattered by the confidence that my fellow attorneys on the Section Leadership Council have shown in electing me to the Board of Governors," Cartwright said. "It's an honor."
Cartwright is a graduate of Hamilton College and the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he was editor of the Penn Law Review. From 2004 through 2009, Cartwright was named a "Super Lawyer" by the publisher of Philadelphia Magazine, ranking him in the top 5 percent of all Pennsylvania lawyers as determined by a survey of 23,000 lawyers in the state.
At the same convention, attorney Daniel W. Munley of Munley, Munley & Cartwright, P.C., was elected secretary of the Association's Interstate Trucking Litigation Group. He has served special projects coordinator for the trucking litigation group.
Munley is a graduate of the University of Scranton and the University of Tulsa College of Law. He was selected for inclusion to the 2005 Pennsylvania Rising Star Super Lawyer, an honor given to a select 2.5 percent of lawyers in the state who are 40 years or younger and have practiced 10 years or less.
