First Flight Centennial
Foundation Adds Interactive Trivia Challenge To Web Site
FEBRUARY 13, 2001
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
TAKE THE “WRIGHT BROTHERS TRIVIA CHALLENGE”
We are reminded by the North Carolina license plate of being “First in
Flight”. In March, the North Carolina quarter from the U.S. Mint will
feature the Wright brothers’ first flight at Kitty Hawk, today Kill Devil
Hills.
But how much do you really know about the Wright brothers and this historic
event?
Bone up on early aeronautica with the First Flight Centennial Foundation
“Wright Brothers Trivia Challenge” at http://www.firstflightcentennial.org.
The Challenge changes monthly, and a First Flight Centennial t-shirt will be
awarded to one winner each month.
The Challenge was developed with the assistance of Dr. Tom Crouch, senior
curator for aviation at the National Air and Space Museum and Mr. Darrell
Collins, historian at Wright Brothers National Memorial. Consultwebs.com, a
leading web site designer and consulting firm that developed the
Foundation’s web site, supplied technical assistance.
Dr. Tom Crouch is author of “The Bishop’s Boys”, a history of the Wright
brothers, and is currently chairman of the U.S. Centennial of Flight
Commission’s Advisory Board.
Darrell Collins has educated and inspired thousands of people with his
presentations at Wright Brothers National Memorial about the genius and
perseverance of Wilbur and Orville Wright. A native of Manteo, North Carolina,
Mr. Collins is a featured speaker at national aviation events.
To take the Challenge, visit http://www.firstflightcentennial.org.
The site also provides information about events, improvements to Wright
Brothers National Memorial and sources for official First Flight Centennial®
merchandise.
The First Flight Centennial Foundation is a 501(c) 3 organization formed to
commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Wright brothers’ first
flight. The Foundation’s objectives are to improve Wright Brothers National
Memorial, to help produce the First Flight Centennial celebration in 2003 and
to share the story of the Wright brothers and their achievement with a broader
audience through events and activities.
