In New Forum for Domain Name Disputes, Trademark Holders Dominate
May 19, 2000, New York Times

Of the 327 cases decided, 243 cases, or 74 percent, have favored the businesses or trademark holders filing the claim. Most cases involve clear instances of exploitative cybersquatting. But lawyers say mistakes are being made."

Domain Name Cybersquatters Evicted
Hartford, Conneticut, U.S.A., 2000 FEB 4

(Newsbytes) -- By Sherman Fridman, Newsbytes. Two alleged cybersquatters, on opposite sides of the country, have been evicted from their Websites within the past two days. One eviction occurred voluntarily as part of the settlement of a lawsuit, while the other came pursuant to a ruling by the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit (N.Y. and Conn.). In the court decision, believed to be the first Court of Appeals decision in the country under the federal statute known as the "Anti-cybersquatting Consumer Protection Act of 1999," the appellate court, in an unanimous decision, held that Sporty's Farm, a company that sold Christmas trees online, could not use its registered "sportys.com" domain name. See the story at Domain Name Cybersquatters Evicted.
