Speech 1 Exam: Persuasive- There is a God and you should live for him
INTRODUCTION
People throwing their hands up in the air, eyes closed, tears streaming down their face, shouting “Thank you, Jesus!” Some may wonder; are they worshiping something real? Or is it all a made up theory used for hope in this world? Through discussing the incredible earth we live on, the complex human mind, beauty with miracles, God’s love, and faith I am here to persuade you that there is a God and you should live for him.
BODY
Earth is the only known planet equipped with an atmosphere of the right mixture of gases to sustain plant, animal, and human life. HYPERLINK "http://www.everystudent.com/" www.everystudent.com tells us that interesting fact, along with stating that earth is the perfect size and if it were any smaller or larger, it would not be suitable for living The opponent may argue that the big bang theory can easily summarize human creation. Although that is basically saying that a small bomb went off in a print shop and created a library.
You feel bad when you do something immoral right? Some may say that we were developed by evolution, although, that does not clarify where our hearts came from. HYPERLINK "http://www.everystudent.com/" www.everystudent.com gives an example that even a thief gets upset and feels wronged if someone steals from them. Mere chance could not have given us the sense of right and wrong. It is as if a loving God created us and wired our brains and hearts to be equipped with emotions. HYPERLINK "http://www.freerepublic.com"Www.freerepublic.com states that “If created by God, then we are here for a purpose, a part of a divine plan that God has for all souls in the universe.”
Many may argue that there is no proof of a God. Now I can sit here and give you scientific reasons for the next minute or so, that hint how God could exist. Science is not faith. Hebrews 11:1 & 2 says ‘’Faith means being sure of the things we hope for and knowing that something is real even if we do not see it. Faith is the reason we remember great people who lived in the past.” Famous presidents and world leaders do not live here anymore. Though we believe they existed because text books and other witnesses say they do and it is the same with our Lord. He gave us the bible. He spoke through David, Paul, John, Matthew, etc. He spoke through many disciples for you to read his word. People may say the bible is not enough evidence, but why wouldn’t you want to have faith that someone died for you, and why wouldn’t you hope that there is a heaven?
I know you cannot say that you have never admired a beach or a mountain. Where does that beauty come from? Have you ever seen an explosion end up creating something so beautiful like that? When a woman gives birth it is said to be a true miracle as well. Many say the day they gave birth was the day they were saved. Women talk about how they knew God was blessing them with a child from heaven. The love they feel for their new baby is so strong they can not even imagine how God sent his only son to die for us. It is like the famous bible verse John 3:16 says; “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Ephesians 1:4 states that “Before God laid down earth’s foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love.” I love that verse because it illustrates how God did not have to create you, but he had so much love to give that he wanted to create you.
People will fail you. Can you honestly say you have known someone your entire life that has never failed you, even if just a little bit? Someone may be there for you most of the time, but they can never fill your heart with the love and complete satisfaction that Jesus can. You may argue that the bible is not true. You may not believe in Jesus. But I dare you to look into it. You will not find one book in the entire bible where God has let someone down. Sure he may not do things just the way we want. Or maybe he will not answer us right away. In the end God’s plan is always the best plan for you. He longs for you to have a relationship with him and he will wait as long as he has to. You say you still do not believe. Well what if you are wrong? What if God does exist and you go to hell because you did not try to get to know the lord? He waited for you. He gave you every chance in the world. He loved you, even when you did not love him. Let’s take a step back. You have time. Get to know God. Pray to him. Accept his unconditional love. Accept his son Jesus Christ. God will not care what kind of car you drive, how many parties you go to, or how many friends you have. God just wants your heart. He wants to be there for you. Now THAT is something and someone incredible to live for.
In conclusion, I hope that through discussing our earth, the human mind, beauty, faith, and God’s love that, you now have believe and long for heaven. I have gotten to know just about every person in this room. All of you are amazing. I strongly believe that it is not a coincidence that we are all unique and beautiful in our own ways. Some of you have a passion for animals, for music, some of you are quiet but inside your heart is full of wisdom, some of you are confident and funny, some of you will inspire and teach many teenagers with your communication talent, and all of you I know can agree that it would be nice if their was more to life then our everyday routine. I just know in my heart there is. I used to do things I am not proud of that were unpleasing to God. But ever since I repented and decided to try my best to live for him, I feel so at peace and have never felt more joy. It is like Rick Warren says in “The Purpose Driven Life; “You were made by God and for God- and until you understand that, life will never make sense.”
