Warlock's Tattoo and Body Piecing Sterilization
Warlock's Tattoo and Body Piecing is dedicated to your safety. All of
our piercing and tattoo needles are single use only. Immediately after
the procedure, they are disposed of in approved biohazard containers.
All tattoo ink is drawn from single-service caps containing individual
portions. The remainder is discarded after user with each tattoo. Any
item that cannot be disposed of with eash use such as tattoo tubes,
piericng clamps and taper pins is sterilized in an autoclave.
Our Sterilization Procedure
Sterilization is a procedure that kills all microorganisms, including
their spores. The sterilization procedure occurs in the autoclave. The
autoclave consists of a steel chamber capable of withstanding more than
1 ATM or 15 pounds per square inch (PSI) of pressure. Pre-scrubbed,
cleaned and bagged items to be sterilized are placed in the autoclave.
As steam vapors enters the chamber, the air inside is forced out a vent.
When the temperature inside the chamber reaches 100 degrees centigrade,
or boiling, and all air has been removed, the vents are closed.
Steam continues to enter increasing the internal pressure to 15 PSI
above atmospheric pressure. 15 to 30 PSI at 273 degrees Fahrenheit for
55 minutes from cold start (45 minutes from hot start) adequately
ensures death of all living microorganisms. In theory, all living
material, including bacteria, fungi, spores and viruses are destroyed in
15 to 20 minuters. The extra time is a margin of safety. Additionally,
the effectiveness of the autoclave in killing bacterial endospores is
tested monthly by a third party laboratory using a sporestrip. Counter
tops, tattoo and piercing chairs, and arm rests are thoroughly cleaned
after each use with a broad spectrum germicidal solution.
A Tattoo Overview
Tattooing and other body modification date back as far as human
existence. It is unsure exactly when and where this form of art
originated, but it is assumed that the first tattoos were discovered by
accident. Perhaps a person received a wound and unintentionally rubbed
soot into it, causing the mark to become permanent, even after healing.
The first records we have of tattooing comes from the ancient Egypt.
Paintings on walls have suggested the use of tattoos, and date as far
back as 2000 BC. Hieroglyphs feature individuals with unnatural markings
on the body. Today, tattooing has become more of a fashion statement.
It's not uncommon to see just about anyone with a tattoo. As it becomes
more and more common in society, it's also become more acceptable. Some
still consider tattoos to be nonsense. The placement of any tattoo is
very important. Since this is a permanent mark, making sure that you are
happy with where it is going to be on the body is crucial. If you want
to be able to hide the tattoo as you age, or for any other reason,
placing it in an inconspicuous area or somewhere that can be easily
covered by clothing is wise. Many people use tattoos to accentuate
certain parts of the body. A woman might choose to place a tattoo on her
lower back or abdomen to draw attention to the curve of her body. A man
might choose to place one on his bicep or upper back to draw attention
to the definition of his muscles. Lower back, hip, abdomen, ankle, and
foot tattoos are examples of more feminine placements. Upper back,
shoulder, and arms are good examples of more masculine placements.
Although having a tattoo is your choice, it's up to you where you decide
to place it. If we all followed these guidelines, we'd all look the
same. Some people experience allergic reactions to the ink, latex
gloves, or ointment used to cover that tattoo after it is done. If you
know you have any of these allergies, talk to your tattoo artist to see
what can be done about it. For instance, if you know you have an allergy
to latex, ask your artist to use a different kind of glove while he/she
is working on your art. If you're not sure whether or not you have an
allergy to the ink used, ask your artist to put a dot of the ink he/she
plans to use and keep it on your skin for twenty-four hours. If you have
an allergy, itching and discomfort will occur. Diseases, such as
Hepatitis B and HIV can be transmitted through tattooing needles, work
stations and other equipment. All needles should be new and freshly
sterilized, and disposed of directly after use. Tattoos do hurt, and
where you get them placed determines how badly, and what kind of pain
you will experience. Tattooing on bone, such as the spine or elbow, not
only causes pain, but a uncomfortable vibration. It may make it seem as
if the machine is puncturing deeper than it actually is. Tattooing a
more fleshy part of the body, such as the stomach, inner thigh, or
underarm may cause a more sharp, pinching type pain. When preparing to
get a tattoo, don't drink any alcohol the night before or the day of, as
it thins the blood. Asprin also thins the blood, which makes it more
difficult for your artist to see what he/she's doing. Also, part of the
stencil used for the design may be wiped away when the artist wipes at
the blood. Eat normally before you get your tattoo. If you're sick or
your immune system is weaker for any reason, you may want to postpone
your appointment until you are in better shape. Getting a tattoo is not
for everyone. Some people want the design but can't stand the pain
involved. Asking for a different, less painful design halfway through
the process or having your artist stop mid-way looks far worse than not
having it done at all. Be prepared and remember, they stay with you for
life. Know that Warlock's is dedicated to provided all customer's with
the most sterile, painless experience possible. The above information is
placed on this page for your benefit!
Suggested AfterCare for New Body Piercings...
Your new piercing may secrete a small amount of clear fluid called
lymph, this is normal and
healthy. As this fluid
dries throughout the day, it becomes hard and somewhat sharp. It is very
important not to move the
jewelry until this crust is removed. The easiest way to remove this
crust is with hot water.
Once the jewelry and piercing are clean on both sides, apply a moderate
amount of a mild liquid soap to the area.
Gently work up a lather over
and on the piercing. Slowly, move the jewelry through the piercing six
to ten times. If you feel a sharp sensation, check to make sure
all of the dried material is
removed before proceeding. Let the soap remain in contact with the
piercing for about one minute.
Then rinse with clean water for at least one minutes more. Always use a
clean towel to pat dry.
Cleaning your piercing more than two times a day may weaken your body's
own natural defenses. The
use of anti-bacterial ointments
such as Bacitracin and Neosporin is generally
discouraged. Ointments may
block oxygen from the piercing as well as providing a place for stronger
contaminants to breed. Alcohol
is considered an ineffective
cleaning agent, as is witch hazel. Hydrogen peroxide may sometimes
create scar tissue with repeated use. It is a good idea to make sure
that you sleep on clean sheets or with clean sleeping clothes. For ear
piercing it is wise to avoid public telephones. You should also
thoroughly disinfect the phones in your home and office.
Be careful with hair care
products and harsh shampoos. You should
never touch your piercing
with dirty hands. Avoid rough
handling of a new piercing. Genital piercings should be
protected from foreign body fluids until
fully healed. The importance
of good nutrition must not
be overlooked. A quality multi-vitamin, taken in accordance with the
manufacturers directions, should be considered mandatory. A
well balanced diet, stress
reduction and sleep, all contribute to problem free healing. During your
healing time, a little extra
attention to your health and well being will be well worth
the effort. Piercings must go through
two healing phases. During
the first healing stage you are vulnerable to infections and other
problems. Follow your piercers
direction closely. The second phase is a seasoning and
toughening up phase. After these two phases are complete the piercing
may be considered permanent and manipulated to your liking. We encourage
follow up visits for periodic check ups. We are never too busy to answer
any of your questions. When in doubt,
call us. Or better yet, stop
by.
