Massachusetts law allows for different levels of disability compensation. If an injured worker is totally or partly disabled for five days, he can receive paid medical treatment and compensation for lost wages. The experienced workers’ compensation lawyers at Kantrovitz & Associates, P.C., based in Boston, Massachusetts, know how to help their clients obtain full benefits after a workplace accident.

Types of benefits the Kantrovitz & Associates legal team can assist you with include:

  • Temporary Total Disability Benefits. A person that is unable to work due to a work-related injury or condition is eligible for up to 156 weeks of compensation.
  • Partial Disability Benefits. After suffering a work-related injury or disabling condition that allows the injured to work in a different job, but will earn less than before the injury, the worker may be eligible for temporary partial disability benefits. These benefits are intended to help during the time of reduced earning capacity.
  • Permanent and Total Incapacity Benefits. These benefits will be continued as long as a workplace accident victim is disabled. A permanently disabled person is not capable of taking on any work.
  • Medical Benefits. Someone who suffered a workplace injury requiring medical treatment is entitled to necessary and reasonable health care services. Compensation could include reimbursement for all expenses related to medical treatment, including prescription medicine costs and even mileage and parking reimbursement for travel to and from medical treatments.
  • Permanent Loss of Function and Disfigurement Benefits. Massachusetts law offers a one-time monetary payment if the work-related injury resulted in permanent loss of a particular bodily function, or facial, neck or hand scarring.
  • Subsequent Injury Benefits. A worker that returned to work for two months or more and became re-injured may be eligible for compensation.
  • Social Security Disability Benefits. Workers with a disability that will last 12 months or more are also eligible for Social Security Benefits.
  • Vocational Rehabilitation Services. An injury may prevent a worker from doing the work he previously performed, however, he may be capable of performing another job with proper training. This benefit can include job placement services, and retraining or education for new work.
  • Survivors’ and Dependents’ Benefits. A work-related injury or illness that results in the worker’s death provides for certain benefits to the worker’s survivors and dependents. Qualified beneficiaries include the worker’s spouse and children.
